some people are real jerks.

italian
07.25.05 (1:16 pm)   [edit]

Buongiorno, Mi chiamo merlyn, sono Canadese ma abitta a Bedano, svizzera. Io ho una sorella e uno fratello. Mia mama abitta in Canada. blah blah blah

Our classes are wizzing by and I feel as though I no longer know what language I speak, because when i write my spelling is all muddled up with german, french and italian alongside my english. My brain hurts but sonmehow and i don't knwo how, but some how I am learning italian.Today we learnt important words like on top of, under beside and behind and let me tell you , you have NO idea how important these words are till you don't know them. We take laguange our own language for granted, we learn it was children slowly step by step and we speak it with out thinking about it. Immerse yourself in another language as an adult and you are lost, you feel stupid and idiotic, and completely deaf and dumb.
I  am lucky I had french in school in canad and I learnt german as an adult ( more or less) fluently) I know how this works, 1st two weeks are hell then it gets better, but what if you are only doing a 2 week course, then it is cram cram cram. 4 hours each morning and your head is so full you think your brain will explode.

However.....

I can now say things in italian. more or less. I understand the tv more now. I can count and say my alphabet and some verbs like to be, to have etc..... and I can ask who do you say... in italian....
I am getting better too, slowly the low bp is normalising and the IBS is calming down. so this means I don't spend half an hour in the mornings wanting to vomit or faint. ( I will spare you all the details, but last week was to say the least scarey and unpleasant.)
We also bought a fan for the computer room so now it is bearable to sit in this wee room and do stuff at the computer. And the weather has cooled a bit although today it is humid!

anyway I apologise for the long absence esp to those reading the Daughter of the empire thing.....hard to be creative when your head is full of strange words and your body is protesting violently. I will be sad when the course is over but then we switch over to acer's italian course that happens once a week for the workers and lo and behold one of our teachers also does that although she is teachingthe advanced class still, it is the same school, YAY we chose well. I love our two teachers they are awesome. Patient and fun and very good at what they do.

anyway....  a domani! Ciao!!

We interrupt this broadcast...
07.15.05 (5:48 am)   [edit]
yeah I know I am a slacker... no new posts... what can i say..been busy..gaming, house cleaning and entertaining guests!

I cannot believe that it is almost the middle of july already. We start our italian course on Monday (Bloody hell!!!) and I am just not ready for this.

the weather is hot and more hot followed by contiunous hot and sticky with some thunder rolled in for good measure. This includes a plague of flying ants and no rain.

but life is good.

The battle for the kitchen continues...ants vs vacuum cleaner and mop difficult to say who is winning at the moment...

Today is house clean day....after the plague of flying anty theere are many dead things that need sweeping away.

gonna be a hot one.........

see you all later

Until then be excellent to each other.

Monday in real reality
07.11.05 (6:34 am)   [edit]
We spent the weekend, once the grocery shopping was out of the way, mostly bumming around the galaxy, hunting rebels and visiting points of interest. I'll say this for the moon of Tatooine, it's a hell hole and I am glad I don't live there.
Zandabar, the Mon Calamari crafter and I spent some Q time zipping about, avoiding red dots and generally having some fun. I don't often hang with Zand so it was cool.
Later on I went flying.... running stupid missions for teh neutral fraction atm. If I don't learn to fly I can't play with the Pax boys and getting left behind is no fun.

While the otehrs were away and Zand was flying his own missions I took a side trip into Coronet on Corellia and hung out with Imperials who were after the flame throwing rebels that spawned every 2 seconds. It was fun till the dweeb Reb with the pet showed up....oh well in the end that made it even funnier to look at. Sort of a dragon giving birth to flame throwing rebels theme night. Somethings are just fun.

in the real world....

it's house work day.

I dunno..... virtual reality of galaxy hopping, dancing in Mos Eisley, shopping on naboo or hanging out in coronet vs house work....

yep...

that's what I thought....

back later have a great day folks

Until then be excellent to each other

Space sick
07.10.05 (8:56 am)   [edit]
In the real world I get sea sick.... this has not stopped me from sailing.

In teh virtual world of piloting in space I get space sick...for real. One mission and I am queasy ill. How wretchedly unfair is this?

gonna try the ginger tea method if that doesn't wrk gonna try anti nausia pills.

bleah.

Wild weather
07.05.05 (6:32 am)   [edit]
July came in with a bang. We got all our stuff dried out yesterday morning and in the afternoon we got socked in by thunder storms. Todays we have Nordföhn and the weather is very newfoundland, all scurry hurry clouds across the sky and fresh winds, the low lying clouds that are hugging the hills will soon be chased away and there a patches of blue in between the million shades of grey. It is a good weather day for working on stuff like house work and laundry and cleaning up the rest from the camping adventure.

Got lots to do and don't know where to start, this wind always makes me restless and scatty. It is really good boat weather but there is no water right near the house so that's out I guess.

I need to get some blank scrolls done now as our reserves are dwindeling fast, and see about finally getting the scribe site redone. It tasks me but it is just never top of the list. As I start the last six months of my first term I need to get some stuff in order and prep for the next two year. Hard to believe that 1.5 years of signet clerk is already gone. I feel like I have done nothing although I know this is so not true.

The list of things to deal with are

-the web site
-the wording booklet
-the assigned scrolls that have been assigned for over a year with no reply from the assigned scribe.
-stock pile blanks
-The SOP up and running for real
-a standard sort of scribal thankyou gift
-finding a replacement as I will NOT be doing a 3rd term no mater what.

just some of the many things I'd like to finish up in the next two years. Hopefully we won't have to move during that time.

Then I have a story to write and finish up, a character to develope and in general life to live.

doesn't seem like much but some how the time flies by.
WE also need to figure out if we can manage to get up to Lübeck for Horseradish if that happens. Be nice to get to at least one more event this year. God knows it's hard enough to escape from Tessin as it is.

the 9+ hour drive to get to Nibelungen was a bit hard on both us and the car. At least the tent was mainly dry by the time we took it down, because it's heavy enough dry cannot imagine what the car would do with that ton of soaking wet canvas.

All in all it was a mixed event. I am saddened by the lack of courtesy I see now a days amongst people in general. It isn't just me who sees it and comments on it either, many people say the same thing. We all notice it is the same few doing all the work and the many sit back and complain about stuff.
If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem....
I don't know how to fix this, not sure it's even fixable. All I do know is that there are several people who do an awful lot and they are feeling burnt out.

I guess as I get older I like my solitude more and more, this way I am not disapointed in people. If you rely on only yourself you tend not to let yourself down. But it is rather lonely sometimes...

In the meantime I have a ton of stuff to do and garb to wash .... I will open the boxes and the smell of woodsmoke will waft out bring back a ton of memories, mostly good ones.

If the skies clear up and the sun comes out clothes will dry fast today and I can get the garb put away again till the next time. :)

despite all my grouchings there will be a next time because the household and the shire make it good!

until then be excellent to each other....

list of things to keep in mind

Plague of june bugs
June Bug sex
Floods, thunder and lightening and muck---oh my....
rats
rain from withou rain from within.
fire is your friend

Incipient shire of Nööööööördmark!

Banners seem to go astray often.....those of you from Normark looking for the Prince's war banner might want to consider talking to those of 'us' who rescued it from the pouring rain.

Aventiure declared war on the entire Kingdom of drachenwald and a few others and no one noticed...lucky us.

We are the shire which says...THIS and not THAT

tea is a blessing
fire doubly so
if you have friends to go along with it then you are in heaven.... especially at 7am.

there are those that do and those that don't and those that do are amazing.

Thank-you is a word that is rare in the english language

rudness shall not be tolerated including one's own.

Aventiure / Blackwood and Bärenau are an amazing combo. let's do it again!!!

Anya never ceases to amaze me.

some people just don't don't come with volume control no matter what.

Languages are precious not everyone speaks english and this is a good thing. Those who are intolerant of this get left behind.

Intolerance and arrogance sucks keep it to yourself!

Thou shalt not ask a maiden to fetch you a shield when you are fighting for another lady and then use a differnt shield even though you have been brought the one you asked for.

The wrath of a woman is great, the wrath of a Blackwood woman is unholy and ever lasting.

The statement 'I didn't come and spend time with you guys because there was too much german spoken and I won't speak german.....' reminds me how very grateful I am that I am not like this and take the time and the effort to learn languages and am able to join in the fun no matter what. This is a multi cultural kingdom and I am so very grateful for it.
To answer this statement I have two words.

---your loss.---

No one expects you to learn their language but to be tolerant when they speak their own, this is a given, large groups of people who have one language in common will speak their mother language, it happens all over the place, in Sweden, in Italy, in germany in Holland etc.... if you expect only english to be spoken at an event you are in for a nasty surprise. But people who are able to speak english make the effort to do so when asked or when it it is the common language you only have to ask...... Tolerance about these things is greatly appreciated and it goes along way.
...if you choose to stay away because of your own predjudices towards a language then don't expect to be looked after. We aim to help but we are not a hotel service, tent building service or general all purpose everything store and we won't run after you all thetime to make sure you are looked after, you are an adult and you have a tongue in your mouth if you need help ask, if you have aquestion ask, if you need something ask... no one can read your mind.

when someone says dinner is ready, they mean dinner is ready now if you don't move your ass now to come and get dinner you won't be fed.

don't complain if there is no meat ready if you show up half an hour after the dinner call has gone out.

if you eat with the camp offer to help clean up the camp if you can't be arsed to do that then at least clean up your own fng dishes without having to be asked.

if you borrow something bring it back. next time we will request you buy it so we don't care if it gets lost or misplaced.

coffee is a gift from the gods.

the object of the game is to help out not brag about helping out.

bragging about how wonderful you are is not chivalrous it's just annoying.

Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer unless they have a habit of screaming and yelling at the tops of their lungs at 7am in the morning.

Children make camping a thing of wonder. Leo's two make it an extraordinary thing of joy.

Babybel!

getting to look after someone's baby for a bit is a great experience. -thanks I loved all half an hour of it!-

Rope beds are worth the effort. thank to those who helped put ours together!!!!!

MAP 24 shall be banned for ever!

the chicken man at the HIT markt RULES!!!!!

we are not a zoo attraction.

it has become a noticable thing that we are now in a ME world not an US world, shame really...

to all those who helped us in every way thankyou so much, we will return the favours!

There is nothing better in the world that sitting under a leaky sunshade, till 2am with a cozy fire and good friends plotting various thing and laughing one's ass off.

especially when others join in the fun.

remember the more people who pitch in to work the sooner the work gest done the sooner the work gets done the faster everone can have fun.

laughter renews the soul and the faith.

Nib 2005.......

until then be excellent to each other!
