copycats....aren't we all?
06.01.05 (7:51 am)   [edit]
It would appear that no matter how many of these silly quizzes I take, how many times I take them I always end up the same, it's a little scarey.... no wonder the Darkside has such appeal....

Red
You were destined to have a Red Lightsaber.

Red is the color of fire and blood, so it is
associated with energy, war, danger, strength,
power, and determination as well as passion and
desire. You have seen the Strength and Power of
the Dark Side of the Force and have you thirst
for more of it.

What Colored Lightsaber Would You Have?
brought to you by Quizilla

River
You are River. You were a child prodigy, a genius.
Then the government got a hold of you and
started experimenting on you and cutting into
your brain, which gave you strange, psychic
powers but made you insane. Your brother
rescued you, but he takes sooo much looking
after.

Which Firefly character are you?

Which Member of the Endless Are You?

When the Wild Hunt rides
05.31.05 (5:38 am)   [edit]
It is said that the Wild hunt will ride at the winter solstice and in at the times when it is called, that anyone who watches the hunt will go mad and end up joining them, all creatures great and small turn their heads whenthe Hunts passes.
The Hunt is a legend and there are many incarnations of it depending on who you listen to. One thing that is a common them is the storms and the wild wind they bring with them when they ride.

Now I would look it up but I am too damned tired because last night if there was sucha thing it rode to hell and is now on its way back. NorthGermany when it is this windy the wind is accompanied by clouds and rain andthe weather isusually very violent, here this wind this mighty North wind bring only itsellf. It is dry and loud and it sweeps all moisture inthe sky away, so instead of having air clearing thunder storms which only brushed the edge of the mountains here, we have wind.
It is the way of stroms I think to stir up the blood and make one restless almost as bad as waiting for the storms to start, this wind this Föhn is as wild as it gets. Rushing down the from the North to the South as fast as it can go, gathering its speed along the way, everyone knows what happens when you run down hill. Having tossed and turned about as though I too were tossed and turned by the wind, my morning ebgins earlier than normal and i am exhuasted as though, yes I went mad and ran with the hunt, such things are not unheard of.
Because it is cooler today it will be a scroll day, suddenly inthe space of 12 hours there are a lot more to do.
So unless I get swept away into another world by this mighty wind that seems intent on blowing everyting away, I will work on the hings that need to be done.

until then, be excellent to each other.

the Endless
05.30.05 (2:53 pm)   [edit]
If desire and dream ever dance through your heart, you will know this restless day. be still, little one, the promised storms will come and when they do you will know peace, you say.

A slight whispery breeze touches the skin it hold promise of rain, the cooling, solid, drenching kind. The air is full of moisture, it is so thick it wraps the body like a wet wool blanket,tt suffocates and smothers. It makes the body languid and lazy, every breath is work, every step is hard. It brings no relief.

In the dance that only the sun knows, heat ripples over the land, the way of waves in the wind, and still all that is green cries out.

Again you say, shhhhhhhhhhhhh be still little one, for you will soon know release. When the storms come and bring their loud voices and brilliant fires you may dance in the rain. Your hair in rivers flowing about your face. Laughter and water, tears of rain.

the wind's caress up on the skin, shivery and airy light, and this body knows longing.
when the storms come, when the storms come and you sigh when you say this because we are still waiting, watching the skies for the tell tale signs.

AQUARIUS: Darth Vader
Vader can be cruel, and torments people who disagree with him. Yet, deep down he has a peace-loving, friendly side. He has a knack for inflicting pain on people and always uses his intellect during battle.

Minor earth, Major sky
05.30.05 (7:43 am)   [edit]
Oh yeah a-ha still rock!

It is Monday. It is sunny and hot but the little breeze is cool, you can smell mountain snow touch in it. It has a thread of ice, that peppery scent of frozen liquid. It is actually very welcome because yesterday it was still and humid and hot and although I love this sort of weather, even my body gets tired of wading through thick air.

The writing is consuming. This is a good thing and I hope it continues but I will have to break the spell to do a scroll. Time is on a leash as usual and there is the alternative universe of the postal service to consider. I will get started today because it is weighing on me like a black dog on my back. I don't like the obligation of having to do scrolls because no one else will. I am starting to feel like a machine in the scroll world. produce produce produce and for what? Don't answer that. I know the answer but it is not good enough any more. Burn out, but it is burnout from people not the art form.
enough of that. I am begining to whine like Luke Skywalker.... :)

So I hide myself today with headphones on and music that sweeps me away, forget the world and delve into the imagination, walk into an alternative universe and become someone else. I love writing. I love the magic of it, but it is hard bloody work.

This weather helps, it is perfect, magical and almost surreal. I love the stillness of it when it is hot like this, the antithesis of still deep winter, and I love that too.
that's me a creature of extremes.

No middle ground.

until then, be excellent to each other.

In a world of twittering birds
05.29.05 (7:12 am)   [edit]
I went to bed at 9pm and slept till 2am and then forced myself to go back to sleep woke up at 7am to the sounds of twittering birds. Swallows and sparows mainly that's what hang out here near the house, they don't come with volume control.

There is a somewhat surreal sense to it all, Marcus not being here andteh days being bright and sunny and very warm, I feel as though I am in some netherworld, an alternate universe and I am a bit lost. the day to day chores come and go and the one foot in and out of a fictional world I need to immerse my self in , in order to pour the story out, is taking its toll. I have a scroll to do but I don't want to do it. Many reasons, none of which are good reasons but I am burnt out and fed up and it's an art form I need to put to bed for a while, but it needs to be done soon and the longer I fight it, the harder it becomes.

I have been reading abot super string theory and the 11 dimensions thing. could be we live ina universe far odder than we had previously imagines unless youare a sci fi writer then of course 11 dimensions is nothing.....

[url=]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... [/url]

it's interesting so have a look...

Wikipedia.... you can get lost in the wikipedia dimension for sure.....
here's one [url=]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... [/url]

It started when I looked up Meme.... and kind of went down hill from there.

well, in this particular dimension it is time for coffee.

restless among the lillies and the damned
05.28.05 (1:02 pm)   [edit]
some titles are not there to make sense.

It is hot and humid today. magical weather, the wind is enough to cool the skin and make the tall grass and bearded barley move like waves of green in the brilliant light. Summer in all its absolute finest. The lizards agree with this as they skitter along the walls and sun heated terrace tiles.
I am listening to music that echoes how I feel, edgey and restless, there are storms coming, thunder and lightening and maybe some rain. Of course some of this exess energy comes from staying inside, it is cool in side and I can't write out on the terrace because I can't see the laptop screen, it is not designed for bright light. That is okay my direct sun tolerance is not high being the fair skinned celtic creature of habit that I am, I freckle and burn at the very thought of sunlight so best to avoid direct contact for long periods of time. Still I do go out and just revel in this wonderful heat. Pick some mint from the garden and make tea.

until then, be excellent to each other!

everybody knows you're lost...in the night time honey
05.27.05 (6:19 am)   [edit]
just a song running through my head. It.'s early for a day we don't actually have to get up early on. But the sound of a husband plonking a cup of coffee down beside me on the night stand at 6:30 am was so irristable I had to leave my happy dream sleep place and wake up. oh well, shit happnes, and the coffee is goooooooooooooooooooooooo ooood.

My absolute all time favourite weather has finally come, hot and humid. I love it. It is like living in water or something damned close. You can't see very far because there is such a thick haze all over the place
(dunstig) in german ( what a great word). I always liked this sort of weather, it's warm enough that I don't even have to think about sweaters or anything like that , can go barefoot and not have cold feet, it's humid enough that i don't feel like I live in a desert. I don't know why but I love this kind of weather.

We have been watching the TV series 'Firefly'. awesome show, I am very impressed it intrigues me and we are only half way through the season. Which makes me ponder why the show was cancelled? It is really really good. I don't really get the cancellation policies of tv showe people. It's like they have no clue as to what is going on out there in real life land. Anyway they made a movie and I am looking forward to that.

Today we have stuff to do, shopping, shirt ironing, packing. Marcus flies out to Dubai and I hold downthe fort. Am happy to do this and not get on a plane and fly for 6 hours, but i will miss him, it is hard when he goes away. :(

Next time I will go with but this time he can see what it is like and how things are there, besides somene has to water the garden and feed the fish. I am busy writing and i don't want to break that streak, the urge to write comes a lot but the actually flowy writing stuff doesn't when it happens it's a gift i don't look it in the mouth I just sit and write. It doesn't last I get distracted and have to do other things, like the scroll I need to do this weekend and get sent off pronto....

So it will be good I guess to have no distractions. Still I like my two legged distraction and miss him when he goes away.

alrighty then.... more later
maybe

until then, be excellent to each other.

All hail the romans
05.25.05 (10:28 am)   [edit]

okay so this is for Titus who created a forum and listened to folks and I said i would say hi and thanks here so here I am. :)

so what else is new for the day, ...uhm nothing... well okay there is some huge moy thingy mowing the fields behind the house, it's loud and now I smell cut grass, this is good and I am hoping it will nail some of the allergy issues.
I have been writing, this is a good thing. I have been writing since i can remember telling stories etc.... and it doesn't come easily to me. So when a story is working all else goes out the window, almost overflowed the bath tub and forgot I had the oven on. right now I am telling Merlyn's story, this is of course the Star Wars charachter I have been 'playing' for years now. after some serious thinking i am trying to write the tale in a weblog POV, this is tricky as I am actually taking it from a book I began years ago and converting it, this leads to some serious tense issues, like past present now whenever..... confusing .... I have a lot of help though, the Star Wars field is full of experts and I live with one so..... who knows , I just like the writing part.
Publishing was never a big thing mainly i write what I want to read and i don't mind sharing. so anyway.... this is today sunny, full of words and a heart felt thanks to the roman who paid me a lovely compliment on a day when I needed it most!

Will this wind...?
05.24.05 (6:47 am)   [edit]
that's right it's Föhn time. The mighty North wind that whooshes down the mountains and dries up all the clouds and rain and moisture in it's path. It also makes somethingrattle on our roof and it sounds like a coffee pot when it's spittingout the last of the hot water just finishing up so to speak.

So the upshot of this is that today is sunny.

Blustery but sunny.

It's early. around 8am, but since marcus flies to Germany today, just for the day we get up early 6am early so he can drive to Italy to catch the flight from the Malpensa airport.
Thursday is a holiday.

So this morning so far has been spent catching up on emails and reading the forums. making Journal entries and drinking coffee. Not bad for two hours.

gonna do the shower thing, get clean, get dressed and get a life. I swore that today I would actually get up out of the computer chair for reasons other than making cups of tea or going to the bathroom. Gotta move about a bit, it's good for the soul.

more later when later becomes more interesting.

Until then, be excellent to each other!

rhetorical question
05.23.05 (4:35 pm)   [edit]
why is it that when a scribe makes a scroll for someone 99% of the time there is no feed back, no thank yous and no contact?

a person gets a beautiful origional work of art in their hands and doesn't bother to even say thanks.
I made 5 scrolls for the most recent event, that was two weeks ago and not one person said thankyou. I guess I shoudl not expect a quick little email, thanks for the hard work, I mean sheesh what is it in this world to say thankyou?
We are a me world not a we world and I hate it. I get more and more put off every day. I guess in the end I can understand why scribes walk away from it all, not enough to you give your equipment, money time materials and love but you don't get a word of thanks back???? bad. I can see why restrictions get placed on the work, only do for friends, only do certain types of scrolls etc.... I am so hoping I don't get to this point but today i am dissapointed with this kingdom and its folk. I expected better from a society that PRIDES itself on being polite and chivalrous. Don't believe it any longer.

am fed up with this shit let me tell you. I try really hard not to expect a thankyou, I know it's as rare as a hen's tooth but still. for the 100 or so scrolls that I have done I think I have recieved 10 or so thankyous, isn't that frightening?Wonder how long it will be before I too, go the way of the disillusioned scribe? I said I would do another term as signet but today I question the wisdom of this sorely. Am totally reaching my had enough point.

gotta wonder.

I think being in exile here is a good thing. The excuse not to play as much is legit.

Lost Boys
05.23.05 (4:00 pm)   [edit]
I just got the new 69 eyes cd, 'Devils' and am playing the lost boys song a lot...one of their best I think. shivery vocals, very sexy goth boys, what more could you ask for?
on the list of new cds Avril Lavine, Deine Lakaien, Lift me up single from Moby, A-hah the singles 1984-2004, Nupagadi, and marcus got deo, saxon and twisted sister. The goth chick and the big hair vanity rocker. go figure.

oh yeah we went to see star wars on the weekend.

I laughed a bit as we were driving through some wee swiss town we saw a flock of goth girlies and it was funny because on the cd player in the car 69 eyes was belting out, we don't do the look any more too much fuss too much makeup and maintenance, but the heart is still there,

Back to star wars... oh yeah what else can I say. it completed something and still we want more.

If Darth Vader can have a blog then so can Merlyn Gabriel ( you know the IO merlyn, not the recycled crows merlyn.) don't get them confused.

The film was lacking in many spots and dragged in others, was wow is some parts and head scratching confusion in still other parts. The iloveyou scenes were bad and the fighting scenes were wow. Yoda and the Imperial palace guards was worth seeing! no spoilers go see teh damned film and I mean GO SEE IT, no ripping it from the internet that just so sucks. sides it is worth it to go see it in a theatre even if morons talk all the way through the film, I am sure if I had light sabers handy they'd be headless.

why do people go to the movies if all they want to do is YACK YACK YACK all the way through the film??????

well we made it home safe and sound, drove a different route took an hour longer but was prettier, brought the rain with us and the föhn is currently sweeping it and all teh clouds away again. Supposed to be 30 degrees on Thursday good thing get Marcus used to dubai temps since he goes there on Friday. okay. that's it for now I guess I spent all day typing this is the end for now.

Europa and the pirate twins
05.20.05 (7:52 am)   [edit]
was a Thomas Dolby song, just in case you are wondering....

been reading a lot about internet piracy these days. A lot to do with the downloading of tv shows ( eh what is the problem with that?) and movies okay so I know the problem with that and don't do it. If we like the film we buy the dvd, if it is not too pricey if it is too expensive we just don't buy it.
Star Wars 3 is out on download now, I think that sucks to be honest and there is no way we will DL it. Gonna see it in the theatre then wait to buy the dvd ....an ti ci pation is everything.

What I don't really understand is there is all this rant rant rant about DL stuff but the big companies doing all the bitching don't seem to want to give the folks who would pay for the stuff if they could get it at a decent price an alternative
Music = itunes great place to get music.
but I don't see the same options for films or tv shows, which means if we want to watch stuff in a language that we can understand we have order it from amazon or wait till we drive to germany. It's stupid. I thin the MPAA is a bit dumb and they are missing the point and opportunity. People like us want to pay and are willing to shell out money for good quality media withing a decent price limit ( no I will NOT pay 169, CHF for the first season set of space 1999 and am hard put to pay 99- euro for Star Trek but we do, except for TNG which we don't think is worth it.....)

*Sigh*

Instead of fighting the little people all the time why not do something productive and come up with a better alternative than threats and fines and jail?

Give us a legal alternative.

okay thatwas my rant for today.

later....

be excellent to each other...

the other life
05.19.05 (9:34 am)   [edit]
It is as if someone waved a magic wand and hey presto no clouds, not even a tiny wiff of wispy wisps. The sky is a clear deep sharp break your heart blue and the sun is bright and brilliant. The Föhn came yesterday and swept all the clouds and rain away. Pretty weird the black and white differences from one day to the next, like magic. Almost... Yesterday was a typical before föhn day, weird and restless, I spent a lot of it online googling people from my past.
The world has suddenly become a lot smaller in a really wild sort of way. There are people from my past who were in it for a short period of time and made their mark then for what ever reason left or were left.
One particular person from my past seems to have left her mark on many people not always for the better. Of course this was the one who askled me during a dance lesson that I was paying for how it felt to no longer be the alpha female. I remember feeling stunned at the question especially since I never considered my self alpha anything. That was the beginning of the end of that particular friendship. It all went down hill from there.
Looking back on it now I see lots of these silly little power struggles going on...I tried to ignore them for the most part... I suppose it would never occur to me to question who is the dominant in a friendship because in the end who cares a friendship isn't about competition it's about being friends.
I have had that happen a few times and it is always very weird. Usually ends with me saying bye. Not really interested in that sort of pushme-pullyou crap. I often get the feeling with certain people that they enjoy being your friend if they can controll your actions.
In this particular case I think that was a big part of the problem, this particular person discovered she could not ultimately control me. While I am pretty easy going abotu a lot of stuff I have my line and when it gets crossed that's it...She hated that I left to go have my own life and do something wild and exciting and very unpredictable. She and her partner often predicted gloom and doom for me and I am still waiting LOL. I often wonder why people are so happy to predict awful things happening to you when you run off and do crazy adventurous things? Are they scared of what might happen and projecting? Is it that they are too scared to do something adventuours themselves and resent it when you do, and try to squash it all down?
Of course I suppose when your life goals are totally different things are bound to go wrong. She wants fame and fortune and I wanted true love and a home. I am not really that ambitious or hungry for fame, money or world domination....too much like hard work...., I think and I much prefer not to stomp on the backs of others just to get what I want.
I remember some pretty nasty comments from this particular person about myself and other students and I have to wonder when she refers to a certain dance class she teaches as the 'recycle bin' why she actually doing it. After all these 'recycle bin women' are paying her, if i were in her shoes I should think I would be grateful for their time and money and support. But that's not the case, she doesn't see it that way. i know from personal experience that while [i]her[/i] time is 'precious' other people's time is not. I guess if that's how you get ahead then you can have it, I am just so not interested in that.

I was reading a few weblogs written by people I used to know in these circles of friends from that time period and I see now that i was not alone in being treated badly by this particular woman.Toxic, toxic, toxic. That was a day of digging up the past.
Bitter sweet really. on another weird note, I got an email from another blast from my past. A friend of sorts who played a really vital role in my life and at a time when i had no self confidence told me I could be and do anything I wanted to. I adore him for this gift. Anyhow I get an email from him after gosh five years or so now? That was a nice surprise to wake up to this morning. I am hoping that after such a long pause we can resume writing and being friends.
Life it seems is circular.
This evening Marcus's folks come over and we will grill again thankfully the weather will be nice and it will be warm enough to sit out and enjoy. They want to do fish and that's yummy. Maybe even some of the roses that have been all shut up will want to show their faces to the world. I haven't done much art work lately, not sure what that's about. I was trying to write but that went no where fast and to be honest i wasn't inspired all that much. It will come sometimes it takes a while. Time to get back into painting, time to take down the show in Schwerin and bring the pieces home, get them shown in some other venue.
Not sure what's on the roster for today, there is a backlog scroll to do and signet files to sort out, I'd like to eventually sort out the signet website, send enmasse email catching up with the kingdom scribes and sort out the op-backlog.
We do need to get the basement sorted out. I want to get our work room deon so I can sew in peace and also the weight of the junkwe have down there is sitting on my shoulders, i don't want to keep carting it around with us all over. It is crazy how stuff accumulates. In the back of my head all the time is the fact that we are just renting this house, it isn't ours. This fact is re-enforced by the owner/ administrators who often say things that serve to remind us we are just renting.... so the thoughts in the back of the mind are always we will have to move all this crap around again.
What is it in our natures that allows us to accumulate to the point of having no room and having more than we need? Buy buy buy it's sort of silly really. *sigh* been one of those weeks I guess and we are not even through yet.

Tomorrow we drive up to Frankfurt to hang out with Carsten, our SW buddy from the IO and he was also best man at our wedding. We will go and see Revenge of teh Sith on Saturday after a day of shopping in Frankfurt. I can't wait, it will be great and sad and we are pretty excited now we just have to get Carsten excited about it too. so..... that's that.... blah blah blah

until then be excellent to each other!

Wildlife in the back yard
05.18.05 (10:18 am)   [edit]
It has stopped raining and the clouds are doing their funky dance around the mountains and hills, kitty feet as Carl Sandberg said.

There are lizards in the garden, sand lizards ( Lacerta agilis)
green lizards (Lacerta viridis)
Common wall lizards (Podarcis muralis)
Italian wall lizards (Podarcis sicula)

I found a field cricket today that had over taken a mouse hole (Gryllus campestris) and he was big and black and a bit creepy.
I rescued yet another honey bee from the house and we have ants by the thousands. We get swallows and all sorts of birds hanging out as well as butterflies and moths.

life is varied and wild here. Pretty cool.

until then, be excellent to each other.

Tuesday disguised as a monday
05.17.05 (9:35 am)   [edit]
Yesterday it was wet, and I do mean wet. torrential downpour rain that splatters against the glass roof like stones , very loud. with a wind that drive even some rain into the house and showed us where the window in the versace bathroom leaks. It was wet and wild and miserable.
So we spent the afternoon indoors with M's folks drinking coffee and eating very nice baked goods and chatting. Candles cheered everything up and we admired the rain from the inside.

We have had the heat back on the last few days because the weatehr has been quite disgusting and every one says How unusual it is for this region and this time of year', I wouldn't know it was always like this every time we came down to visit, and the garden needs the rain so I don't mind.
besides I like the extreme weather.

It was supposed to be wet today too but we are right on the edge of everything and the wind is doing the cahse its tail thing so the clouds are going in circles. It is actually sunny but damned cold. Rotton weather all over europe so I am told....
Global warming...

Marcus is at work today and I am at home feeling worn out. It was a really busy week last week in terms of thing happening and people about, cooking and stuff, fun but intensive in a weird sort of way, and I think we are both sick with some strange bug thatw a sgoing around, feels like a cold, acts like allergies and wears you down.
So I will probably spend a lot of today trying get better.
The garden looks spiffy as all hell thanks to marcus's folks they are awesome at garden planning, my idea of gardening is throwing seeds all over the shop and hoping for the best!
It looks amazing and I can't wait for the roses and teh seeds to bloom..... I love watching them on a daily basis poke their tiny heads up out of the soil and greet the new days....

We went to a medieval thing on Sunday, held in Bellinzona at the castello Montebello and it was incredibly crowded ( the castle is small) and not very spectacular. I guess we have been spoiled by the SCA and german markets but i was really dissapointed to see how non period some things were and women running around in lame fabric dresses pretending to be ren style was a bit sad. There is a lot of negativity about the SCA for being 'not period' but I have to tell you I saw a lot of crap at this little event this weekend so it made me appreciate the SCA here a whole lot more. I'd say we do it right in many ways. I miss also the medieval markets of Germany I miss a lot about germany actually and this place is sort of back of beyond, like moving from Toronto I guess to St. John's a big step down in size and what is avaliable to you. I miss having choice.
We gained a lot but we gave up a lot too I guess that is always how it is. Maybe once things calm down a little with Marcus's work and the hecktic travel schedual we can explore a bit more. Sad to say we don't know a whole lot about this area we live in and we don't get out a lot to explore either.

I guess it will get better and I sure hope it warms up soon too.

well I gotta get stuff done

till then, be excellent to each other.

boring
05.15.05 (8:06 am)   [edit]
I have been very boring I know, but honestly there isn't much to write about. A's visit was relaxed and fun but we didn't do much it was mostoy lounge about the house and read or chat or drink tea or what ever...in between that marcus's folks were here doing gardening stuff, we planted a bunch of things I still don't know all the names for and it rained a lot. In fact it has been miserable weather. cold and wet and grey and generally unspring like. We even put the heat back on yesterday because it was cold.

We wanted to go up to bellinzona yesterday for some medieval thing in one of teh castles but we just never got out of thehouse, not really motivated by the pouring rain I suppose. We will wander there today though because the sun is trying to shine through the fog, and see what medieval stuff is like here.

Monday is a holiday so we can relax a bit more and do more of nothing.

*sigh*
see what I mean
boring!

until then be excellent to each other.

busy still
05.13.05 (12:43 pm)   [edit]
The week has flown by, of course it will do that when the house is full of people. Andrew and marcus's folks are here, Andrew stays an extra night due to a pesky train strike, guess that means he has to suffer through another night of drinking wine and watching mad tv shows. :) life is hard eh!

The most tricky part is the translating that needs doing between him and marcus's folks.

I have some quiet time right now so I am cleaning the house specifically the kitchen as all week we have been gardening and tracking mud and grass through the kitchen doors to the terrace, now the major gardening is done and I can clean up.
So now I have a clean kitchen again and a few moments inbetween to write while I wait for the floor to dry.
Tonight we will bbq and do something veggie for Andrew, sit around and be lazy. it is a good time to be lazy, the weather is okay, not super hot not super cold and not wet at the moment.

but wanted to say still alive and kicking!!!!!

till later on when things calm down a bit

till then, be excellent to each other.

house full of people, marcus's birthday today and it is raining.

green
05.06.05 (9:27 am)   [edit]
The herb garden is in. All the plants seem to really be happy in their new home.

The roses are blooming and thegeraniums are growing like mad. We have a garden and it is really wonderful.

I am sure theneighbours think I a a bit bats as I will just sometimes lie down on the terrace and soak up the warmth from the tiles ( lizards know whattheir are doing) and just listen to the world. cricjkets and birds, trains and cars, bees and dogs....

speaking of bees we rescued one yesterday, obviously spentthe ight on our terrace table, looking forlornly exhausted and dead but when you breathed softly on it the wings vibrated and so I put a spot of honey infront of it and thenwatched. Asthe sun warmed the day and he felt it , he then lapped up some honey like a tiny fuzzy kitten and when he felt better flew away to do bee things I guess.

I like honey bees and there are hives up in the hills just behind the house.
The other day we had a hornet queen in the house all winter dopey and sluggish, she was shooed out pretty damned fast but man oh man talk about HUGE.
Hornets are a protected speicies here so we just took her out side and let her go on her merry way with a whisperin her ears that this house was NOT a good place for a nest.

Lizards love it here thoughand are welcome at any time.

Yesterday was a holiday, and so we gardened all day till it got too hot then went indoors and watched 'the Villiage' great film, made some food and lazed about all sun drunk and tired from doing out doors things.
I love gardening, I adore my roses which i protect quite fiercely from aphids and ants and mealy wormy things.

everything is growing like mad and needs to be watered often because it's dry stoney sol here and the sun is very powerful.

Still cold at night though, and bright in the mountains with all the stars, so clear and twinkly remindes me of newfoundland minus the midges.

the weird weather changes are also something to get used to , I have taht front of thehead headache today from the various pressure ridges zooming through the area.

qwe also repotted the BIgtropical plants from indoors, finally after three years gave them all new homes HUGE pots to spread their feet in. they seemed to have delighted in this and have suddenly new leaves over night. Now for the rest. On the weekend we will buy a hose and a lawn mower, the pushme pull you kind mostly because our garden is very small an electric mower seems hardly woth it and the push me kind at least gives you some exersize while being environmentally friendly.

so we have 4 kinds of mint, thyme, marjory, parsely, rosemary, sage, chives, basil and in seed borage and dill.

we planted sweet peas at the wall to hide the concrete grey. and dug up the bit where marcus's dad wants to do stuff. Saves a lot of time and he should not be digging heavy stuff any way and this soil is unforgiving. They will be here on Sunday.

time just flies.

so until then, be excellent to each other.

Language of the gods
05.04.05 (2:41 pm)   [edit]
yesterday was hot hot hot. I got 4 loads of laundry washed and dried. But my late afternoon there was also tat naggy oppressive weather gonna turn feeling and sure enough by twilight the stormy thunders rolled in. We had settled to watch Dr.Who and the Daleks ( oh boy oh boy oh boy) and then wham the sky lit up like new york on new years... ZOT and ZAP and KA-BOOM being the operative words. It is amazing how loud thunder sounds in the mountains and hills and the lightening was impressive...most impressive all night it went on one cell after the other rolling through right over us. I adore thunder storms the bigger louder more wild the better. I run from one window to the next hoping for a better view, then bundled up in leggings and a warm sweater I brave the outside under the shelter of the balcony over the terrace I watch as the fury and the might of nature ambles its way over us on towards Italy. Cool weather coming over the Alps meeting the hot weather that wandered up from the med and KA-Boom!

There might be a repeat today, since this morning started off FOGGY, then as the sun made its way up over the hills the fog, like some weird reverse ocean drifted off andthe day began bright, crystal clear and hot. Now the air is heavy, the clouds are dark and threatening and the drops of rain are huge widely spaced and infrequent, it's humid and it wants to let off steam.

I love it.

got three loads of laundry done and dried today and prepared a nice lebanese style supper of tablouleh salad, marinated chicken ( garlic, salt, lemon juice and olive oil) and will make a rice dish to go with ( or rather the rice guru will make rice as I suck at the rice thing).

The day has just gone.....and in between somewhere I fuond a spare hour to pullout a comfy garden chair sit in the shade and read, watch the bees , listen to the birds and observe the clouds.

I think I am at home here.

until then be excellent to each other.

home to the sun

We are back. We got back last night around 7ish after a really good 6.5 hour drive from Hausenstamm. No staus no major road works the only real idiot was the swiss twit in the giant SUV in the Gotthard Tunnel who thought it was really fun to sit on our ass the entire way, you are supposed to keep 150m distance bewteen you and the car in front and this moron thought it was 1,5 meters. I stared at him almostthe whole way through the tunnel but like most gobless gormless nobheads he didn't get it. people in SUVs think they own the f-ing road. Hope he got a ticket. In switzerland you pay a certain percentage of your earnings when you get a speeding ticket.

The weather here is fantabulous HOT HOT HOT sunny and breezy and a little bit humid and somewhat hazey which tells you why I have a wicked sunburn across my shoulders only obtained by hanging laundry outside and watering the plants.

The lizards have gotten used to me not being here are were not so impressed when I kept coming out on to their nice warm terrace and scareing the spots off them. Oh so cute these little lizards.

I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning after a week away the dust piles up. Washed a light bed quilt and put away our big feather duvets man way too hot for that but cool enough at night you need something to pull around you.

Vacuuming seems to bugger up my back totally, lower back as well which is unusual for me.

thanks to the wonder of meds and the awesome phramasist at the Rondell apotheke in Ahrensburg my irritated guts are now happy and working. We stayed at the hotel am schloss and it was really nice ( bathtubs are so important).

Got to hang out with work collegues and that was oh so good for my soul. Got to see Ele and we closed the greek restaurant, which we ate at almost every day.
got to see Honor / Carsten and it was a stressful and short and zipped by week that was good.
Picked up all that stuff we can't get here like cheap henna...... frosch bio cleaners.....and so on.

so now it's back to earth with a soft bump. am tired now my back is frigging killing me annoying that. but it will get better though.

I am so glad we get to go back and forth to Ahrensburg every now and then because it is home after a fashion, we saw rhaps in blume oh glorious yellow that smells like wild honey, and spring came while we were there with warm sunny weather....the only day it rained was teh day I wanted to do hamburg on my own... cold wet rain I opted for ahrensburg shopping, a second hand kettle and mug, teas and good book, my feet on the hotel room radiator and bbc showingthe A380 maiden voyage. Life is good.

hoep the week was great for all you in blogger land!!!

until then
Be excellent to each other!
