SNOW!!!!!
02.25.05 (7:15 am)   [edit]
Snow, a lot of snow. I woke up dreaming about snow and there is was all over the place. White, fluffy and there!!

So instead of our usual lie in bed drink coffee and chat routine we got up and shoveled snow, which by the way, I LIKE to do. The air is cool and fresh but in difference to Canada not that biting freezing cold and the snow was easy enough to shovel, hell it's not like we get THAT much of it a few centimeters is all but enough that it has to be taken care of.

We also got new neighbours yesterday, moving vans and commotion, haven't really met them yet just seen them enough to say Hi, my guess is their parents are there too since this morning at 7 am two very surprised looking older people who only speak Italian poked their heads out the door when they heard that weird scrape scrape sound ( from the stunned looks on their faces you'd think they had never seen any one shovel snow before).... Canadians know this sound in the morning after a snow fall, lying in bed hearing the first poor sod get up and scrape scrape scrape ,...knowing that they too will have to get out of bed and do the same unless someone does it for them. I love that sound actually, it remindes me of childhood and snow, of winters past and good things. I always associate snow with wonder and that has never changed.

So today our world is white, white on the ground and a fins white mist that is shrouding the hills and mountains, lazy flakes of snow drift casually to the ground as if they have nothing better to do and teh whole world seems to be holding it's breath for fear of breaking something. It's wonderful.

It is also a Friday which is also a cool thing, not sure what the weekend will bring, we have no big plans as of yet but we have two whole days to do it in.

Todays is vacuum the basement floors ( dusty dusty) and do some other stuff like Signet stuff and scroll stuff and maybe some laundry and other stuff, friday is a stuff day.

So in the meantime I will be taking photos of the snow and enjoying it while it lasts which is never very long here.

just in case you are feeling nosey about Lugano here is a web cam link, you may have to let it load a bit it's a live feed and requires some sort of programme. You can choose what you want to look at.

Yoiks..... learning from history and television...

interesting reading.....
a little scarey though.....
------

Interesting vierwing... NUMB3RS, the tv show..
man if I had seen this when I was in high-school math would have been a whole lot more interesting.....

This show actually inspires me, the math moron to read up and look into MATH stuff..... this is very cool.

-------

On to scrolls and stuff....got a lot of work to do before crown. Busy busy.... but in the new studio enjoyable too as the sun pours through the windows and I can watch train and plane and cars go by down in the valley and up above ( you figure out which does what). Yesterday the whole day pretty much in front of the computer dealing with backlog stuff, sorting out assigned scrolls and so on....With my astounding deputy we are getting things done and it is good, maybe soon teher will be next to no backlog at all, although stranegthings keep popping up like backlog stuff from principality days....

keeps the job interesting. The next step in the evolution of the Drachenwald signet stuff will be to revamp the website, it should have been done last year but with the move and everything there was just no time, now there is time and desire and people to help out, so it will get done plus hand book and then we can go onto what ever comes next. I tend to think in finished projects not slowly getting there... so it's a learning process for me as well.
------

okay enough banter... time to get to work and get stuff done....

Until then, be excellent to each other... 8)

for the sake of arguing....
02.19.05 (8:20 am)   [edit]
I am on this mailing list that is ridiculous. It's not so much a mailing list as it is argue list, and really the topics and threads are more argues of the day rather than anything senisble.

Now people are getting all pissy over sig files ( some being fairly political and others down right ignorant) and the whole list is up in arms, that is the vocal part of the list and it is ALWAYS the same people to throw gas on the fire.

What is wrong with everyone at the moment?????? Is it just that time of the year when people feel the need to piss in each other's pots in public???

grow the F*** up.

If you don't like someone's sig, don't read it, if it insults you and you JUST have to do something about it do it off list.

As a kingdom officer even a minor one I am supposed to be on this silly thing but I am so losing patience.

It's like electronic kindergarten.

- going back to trying to get rid of this vicious head ache now -

until then be excellent to each other if it is at all humanly possible....

Land of Light
02.18.05 (7:41 am)   [edit]
I wake up ( this is probably a good thing as not waking up would be a bad thing) but anyway, I wake up almost every morning to light, bright clear blue early morning skies tinged with that pale green and yellow and soon to pop over the hill sun.

It is a stunning thing this slow rise of our sun, as it creeps its way over the hill ( large hill, small ( very very small) mountain?) and starts to shine over this valley. At first you can see the rays of light beam their way through the leafless trees, as they catch all the particles that hang in the air ( ice crystals, dust and whatever else) and light them up in to strands of light. Pretty spectacular if you ask me.

You know how when you are a kid and you draw sun light like stiff rays of yellow? well it looks a little like that just softer, more subtle.

I always though the small room we ended up taking for the studio was the least light of them all, but I was wrong about that, this one is, the one where the computers are (this turns out to be a bonus) in this room the majority of direct sunlight is hindered by the huge arch thing that rises above the balcony and doesn't seem to have a real function but is there anyway.

Today will be another glorious sunny day though this time with no wind, the wind stopped which means it will be colder, icyier. When the wind stops the moisture creeps back into the sky and the land and the ice crystals shroud the hills and moutains in a fine veil, makes them look a bit like an Allan Lee water colour.

that's mornings around here for you.

Until then be excellent to each other

House cleaning
02.15.05 (1:29 pm)   [edit]
title says it all.

It keeps my mind busy.

Yesterday was my birthday. It was not a particularly good day. As this is a standard thing...can't argue with tradition.

no one reason and nothing dramatic just a small series of little things that gang up.

glad it's over and it's another year before I have to go through that all over again.

marcus is the bright spot, making me a beautiful supper, and making sure the business trips did not take him away ( at least not until this morning).

I have discovered I loath birthdays and don't mind house cleaning.

okay back to the mop

until then be excellent to each other.

back to where we left
02.09.05 (3:56 pm)   [edit]
So, after a month in sunny switzerland unpacking, sorting and trying to deal with all the fun stuff that seems to happen to me....ask about the IKEA story some time.... we drove back up to Ahrensburg, Marcus gives a training for the week, servers, and I tag along, hang out at acer chat with my friends or hang out at the spare flat the IT dept has, like I did today.

After spending an hour today boiling water for a bath ( no hot water for showers in this flat, and it was a nice hot bath , reading a good book and lounging away the afternoon, I am now ready to bum around Media Markt with Marcus and watch tv ( something we haven't done in a month.

mostly it is a strange thing to come back so soon after leaving.

tomorrow we go shopping for apotheke stuff, Milbiol, minty Tempo, eye drops and magnesium that you can take like sherbert.
always something you can't get in the new land.

in the mean time be excellent to each other
