letting go
11.26.04 (12:52 pm)   [edit]
I am sitting here trying to sort out my life, my life that I have been dragging around with seemingly since forever. I have school papers in binders from when I studied Animal health technology, I am never go to be in this field so why am I keeping these notes? Why do drag this stuff from country to country, home to home? Am I scared that if I throw it out I will forget everything I ever learned?
I have a filing cabinate full of this stuff that Ihave not opened in three years. When is it time to say goodbye to the past and move onward to the future?

It is the same with stuffed animals and olf clothes...why am I keeping these things? I feel like that old woman in the junkyard in "Labyrinth". I carry everything with me and it just gets more and more. I mean who needs 4 broken sewing machines why am I keeping this stuff????

I think the biggest problem I have right now is not the chaos and the mess it is the letting go. Itis time to let go
of the past and the junk and the crap I lug around with me for no other reason than it's mine and I am afraid to let it go.

so with this move to another country and a new house ( really new) it is time to let go. make the choices to get on with the future and let go of the past. I will probably miss some of the stuff, but I think won't miss the weight that is up on my shoulders, in the boxes, under the bed, in the drawers and the closets and it will be so great to have space .... so I thinkthat the recycle plant, the ebay auction house, recycle paper box, the yellowbag plastics recyling bag and the rubbish bin will be my best friends!!!

so I guess .... it is back to the sortorium....

one month and a few days and counting....
stay posted.

until then be excellent to each other.

last hurrah
11.22.04 (7:05 pm)   [edit]

So the big event is done and over with and we will pay through th e nose for the people who reserved and never showed up, ten in total. Gives me a new reason to be saddened and jaded by how selfish people are. It also has brought to home the always honour the deadline for an event and if you cancel after that deadline then pay your way anyway, may make the difference between the shire being deep out of pocket or not.So, there are some well established people in this kingdom that I now have no respect for.
Speaking of honour, our gracious neighbour shire seemed to think it would be perfectly acceptable to litter our period event site for our first event in our territory with their business cards. Most of these people who never say please or thankyou, while being served at the bar, who bought their own drinks to bring into the bar even though they had been asked not to make me wonder about chivalry in the sca, make me wonder about trust and about a level of respect that just seems to be lacking.
I guess in the end somethings never change.

I go to bed tonight over tired and really fed up. I hope that it doesn't happen to other people.

until then be excellent to each other.

queen
You are a queen! You are a rare person indeed. Your
strength extends itself in more ways than one.
People are sometimes exasperated by your
ability to accomplish almost anything but at
the same time the look to you as a role model.
You know your power but you dont use it
recklessly because you know the great disaster
that could come of your recklessness. You
rarely make sacrifices, but when you do they
are large generous ones that will not soon be
forgotten. You have a sentimental side however
and never write someone off until they have
given you good reason. Your very presence is
victory.

winter sleepy
11.11.04 (5:25 am)   [edit]
The clocks go back and my body says hibernate. It's dark all of a sudden almost seemingly all the time and getting out of bed is a chore.

We had a great weekend at University which surprised meactually I was expecting it to be stressful and I was expecting me to get sick since I usually do at events. Butno, pleasantly enough, after Ele rescued us with beds in a warm room and we had several hours of P&Q to come down from the long drive, in the room to ourselves with a decent sip of Scotch, then a quick wander around to see who was about and say hi then a relatively good sleep, the next day went well. The morning wasnoodled away finishing up a scroll while Marcus napped, and then in the afternoon after a tastey lunch I held a scriptorium which was drop-in style, people came and went, taught others how to do things like cut quills ( thanks Caitlin), The Queen came in and helped out ( Yay Honor) and there were a coupleof last minute aoas to be done, and one of the very shiney new scribes Ygraine, Calligraphed her first scroll that was handed out in court that very night. Since we didn't finish the scrolls in time for the next class , Guilding by attrician (sp) we sat quietlythrough it and worked while keepingone ear open to the class, very interesting and certainly something I need to try. Matser Terafan dropped off the scrolls from the backlog that were done and the French manuscript catalogue form the paris exhibition that has had me drooling ever since , THanks ever so much Master T. Perfect book and I am so glad I can read some french.
Met Lady Gabrielle ( thanks again Master T) who is a professional artist and we had a great 20 minute share fest, I am so jazzed. Her work is lovely and oddly enough in difference to all the other well established professional or semi she wants to do lesser scrolls aoas and stuff and not only peerage scrolls etc.... a big delightful switch for me.
Saturday feast , held in the courtyard ( now closed in with a glass roof) was stunning and absolutly delicious) while people sang PERIOD pieces from the upper galleris and it was just like something out of a rennaisance painting. Court was long this time and lovely, lots of stuff, a QOC and a Pelican along with thankyous and AOAs and Panaches. Ihave a hard time getting used to being a panache or a Lindquistringes and often Marcus has to nudge me "you are one of those you getto go up too" , so weird. The night was great with some dancing afterwards, some ER sewing and then to bed for there was an 11 hur drive home again. The drive took us through the Austrian Alps and the first real snow had just fallen lucky for us we missed ALL the bad weather on the way home and arrived at home in really good time to have a wee tot and then to bed.
Monday was back to earth with a bump and the realisation that we have a house.

Now we are plotting and planning what we will do with all this space. A 15mq heated hobby room, I mean JEEZE!... an atomic safe bomb shelter whooooo ( music room?) Garden???????
allI can say is oh boy oh boy.

and now in the mean time i have a BIG scroll to do and lots of ideas just not lots of time, things to prepare for our event, and general life to get on with.

Gonna go to Boesner this weekend they now sell plant pigments ( all natural) and that looks VERY promising to me..... am also debating on whether or not to give a class at our event either on gilding or on making your own model book.
dabate debate.... both these things were very muchin question at University.....have to also get the game score cards done. and other things I can't recall right now.
busy busy busy

and that's about it... winter has hit south germany with a whollop and all we get as usual is rain. Marcus went to the heart doc tor and he is healthy ( needs to do sport don't we all???) and that's good, he has the rest of this week to finsih his holidays and get stuff sorted out then he too goes back to the real world but only for a couple of weeks then he is on more holidays. And will will be sorting out more stuff.

As one chapter of this fairly odd life story slowly comes to a close so another begins.... and i will keep you posted...

until then be excellent to each other!

moving up
11.05.04 (7:59 am)   [edit]
So here we are in Lugao, we have finally found a house yes a house,
it is exactly what I said I didn't want...box, no real view next to an ugly building but...it's a beautiful new built designer house, with garden and terrace, balcony garage...it's a house separate and stuff did I meantion house...?

we get to pick our kitchen out today and the bathrooms still need sinks. I am very happy about our choice because the other things were not exactly right.

the manager speaks english and german and I feel happy about this, will post a website with pictures when we get back to germany.

It has a full basement with ..get this.. a nuclear bomb sheleter that is required by law in switzerland, so we have this weird little room in the basement with a HUGE lead door ( looks like a ship's bulkhead door) and we need to have a cot, tinned food and water, a chemical toilet and stuff down there... guest bed room for guests we don't like?

there is a hobby room that's heated and a cold storage room, a place for laundry machines and a furnace.

the main floor has a guest toilet, a huge kitchen with doors to the terrace, a livingroom with fire place and a separate dinigroom.
well have a look, there is a web site

http://www.pdpsa.com/a-3/" title="http://www.pdpsa.com/a-3/" target="_blank"http://www.pdpsa.com/a-3/

more later it's almost kitchen time

until then be excellent to each other
